Overview

This barn conversion project was a fantastic opportunity to blend traditional style with modern roofing performance. Our team completed a full re-slate, transforming the property with premium materials and hand-finished details that really make it stand out.

What We Did

We re-slated the entire roof using 1st quality Brazilian graphite slates, chosen for their striking appearance and long-lasting durability. Each slate was fixed with grade 316 black slate hooks for a secure, weatherproof finish. Underneath, we installed a Permavent Apex breathable membrane to keep the roof space dry and well-ventilated, along with grade A treated super yellow battens for solid support.

To finish, we fitted a dry ridge system for a maintenance-free ridge line, and added hand-cut verge and ridge details—giving the barn a unique, crafted look that’s both practical and full of character.
